What Our Dealership Partnerships Mean for Your Repair

When a dealership sends a customer to a body shop, it is putting its own name behind the repair. CSN 427 Auto has worked with dealers across the GTA for decades, and those relationships shape how a dealership body shop repair runs here, from the parts order to the day the car goes back to the dealer for its next service.

We're a family-owned collision centre at 395 Evans Avenue in Etobicoke, and we've been repairing vehicles for over five decades. Our dealership partners page lists the dealers we work with, including BMW Toronto, BMW Etobicoke, Acura Sherway, Infiniti Downtown, Mississauga Toyota, Mini Toronto, Volvo Metro West and Westowne Mazda.

What is a dealership partnership for a body shop?

It's a working relationship between a dealer and a collision centre, and it sits alongside the manufacturer's certification without replacing it. Certification comes from the carmaker. The brand sets the training, the tooling and the repair procedures, and the shop is audited against them, by the brand or by a certifier it appoints. Porsche, for example, audits its certified collision centres every year. Our post on what manufacturer-certified means covers that side.

The dealer relationship is built differently. It comes from years of a dealer sending customers to a shop and seeing the cars come back. Two of the dealer testimonials on our partners page put a number on it. Acura Sherway describes 30 years of working with us and says it refers all of its clients here, and Westowne Mazda calls itself a partner of over 35 years.

Do dealerships have body shops?

Some do. Honda Canada notes that many Honda dealers have their own body shops. Others send collision work to certified shops they know.

Mercedes-Benz shows how the two fit together. Mercedes-Benz Canada lists 427 Auto M.B. Collision, at our Evans Avenue address, in its locator of certified collision centres. The brand's Canadian warranty guide strongly recommends that body repairs be done with genuine Mercedes-Benz parts at a facility Mercedes-Benz has certified, and for questions it points owners to their authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. The brand certifies the shop, and the dealer is the owner's first call.

What does the partnership change during your repair?

Mostly the parts of the job you never see. A collision repair on a newer car depends on the right parts arriving on time and on the right procedure for that exact model. Our dealer partnerships give us access to genuine manufacturer parts and help with parts sourcing, scheduling and consultations when a repair needs them. Our post on OEM parts and your repair explains why the part itself matters.

It also cuts down the back-and-forth. We work with your vehicle's manufacturer, your dealership and your insurance company on the same repair, so the coordination stays with us. If an insurer is involved, our insurance partnerships post covers how that side of the file runs.

What happens when the car goes back to the dealer?

Your car will see the dealer again, for routine service, for warranty work, and maybe for a trade-in. That's where a repair done to the manufacturer's procedures matters most. The Mercedes-Benz warranty guide is direct about it. An owner can choose any repairer, but damage caused by body repairs that weren't done to Mercedes-Benz repair procedures isn't covered by the new vehicle warranty.

A partner dealer already knows our work, and our repairs come with a warranty that dealers trust. If your dealer is one of our partners, the shop behind the repair is one it already works with, and the car comes back to you in its pre-accident condition.

Who chooses the body shop?

You do. Honda Canada calls choosing the collision repair facility the owner's right, and the Mercedes-Benz warranty guide says the owner may elect any repairer. A dealer referral is a recommendation, the same way an insurer's suggested shop is a recommendation.

What a dealer partnership adds is a shop the dealer already knows. If your dealer has sent you to us, you're coming in through a relationship that's already in place. If you found us yourself, the repair runs the same way.

Questions we hear a lot

My dealer isn't on your partners page. Can you still repair my car?

Very likely. The partners list shows the dealers we work with, and it isn't a list of the brands we repair. Our certifications page lists the makes we're certified for, and if yours isn't there, call us and we'll tell you before the estimate.

Do you work with dealers outside Etobicoke?

Yes. Our partners include dealers from downtown Toronto to Mississauga. Downtown owners can also go to our sister shop, CSN Avenue, at 293 Macpherson Avenue.

I drive a BMW. Where should I start?

We're a BMW Certified Collision Repair Centre, and BMW Toronto and BMW Etobicoke are both on our partners page. Our guide to finding a BMW certified body shop in Toronto walks through it.

If your dealer has pointed you our way, book your estimate online or call us at 416-259-6344.
