For over 40 years, 427 Auto has been dedicated to assisting apprentices, at all skill levels, realize their goals of achieving a Red Seal designation.  Awarded Employer of the Year on numerous occasions, our in-house Human Relations Team works very closely with the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (Ontario) and the Ontario College of Trades to ensure all of our Apprentices fulfill their requirements for licensing.

The Auto body repair Technician is able to take a vehicle in a damaged state and repair the vehicle to its pre-accident condition. He / she is detailed oriented and can multitask to accommodate shifting priorities.

Major areas of responsibility:

  • Review damage report and repair estimates and plan work to be performed
  • Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
  • Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
  • Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
  • Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
  • Welding on vehicles with the use of mig welders and compression spot welders.

  • Auto Body Collision and Damage Repairer (310B) Red Seal License OR Registered Apprentice preferred


The Automotive Collision Damage Analyst is responsible for achieving the shop’s production and business goals. He / She captures a comprehensive repair plan upfront, thereby minimizing the occurrence of supplements and avoiding delays in production and/or increases in repair costs prior to the completion of repairs.

Major Areas of responsibility:

  • Works alongside lead body technicians to prepare a detailed repair plan for each vehicle, in accordance with our standardized production processes. 
  • Takes photos of damage as required.
  • Converts repair plans to estimating system and upload to insurer.
  • Negotiates with insurers a fair and profitable repair.
  • Familiar with insurance companies’ policies and processes.
  • Coordinates the ordering and receiving of parts.
  • Collaborates with Production Foremen and Front Office Manager.


  • 2+ years of related work experience preferred
  • Auto Body Collision and Damage Repairer (310B) Red Seal License is an asset.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Exceptional organization skills.
  • Efficient use of Mitchell and Audatex estimating software; Microsoft Office; Internet.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.


An Automotive Refinishing Technician / Painter analyses, assesses and evaluates the paint condition of vehicles and selects the appropriate method of repair to ensure a seamless paint finish.  He / She applies refinishing products in the correct sequence for proper adhesion and durability, and has an eye for detail and good colour sense to match complex colour formulations. 

Major areas of responsibility:

  • Identifying and removing layers of sub-coating by using abrasives, solvents or chemicals.
  • Preparing surfaces using power and manual sanding equipment, and applying masking and sanding techniques.
  • Completing minor damage repair prior to masking, applying priming and top coating using spray guns.
  • Applying refinishing products in the correct sequence for proper adhesion and durability.

  • Auto Body Repair Technician (310Q) Red Seal License OR Automotive Painter (410N) Red Seal License OR Registered Apprentice


The Customer Service Representative educates a customer on the collision repair process so the customer is able to make informed decisions. He / She ensures effective, efficient and accurate documentation of the customer’s information and needs; engages both internal and external clients with timely two-way communication, and provides strategic administrative support to both front office and production staff. 

Major areas of responsibility:

  • Provides courteous assistance to customers and educates customers on collision repair process.
  • Capturing accurate customer information.
  • Taking photos of damaged as required.
  • Capturing complete list of customers’ expectations and if necessary negotiating on service deliverables. 
  • Understanding specific insurers’ claims processing policies and processes and following them accordingly.
  • Maintaining updated customer files.
  • Timely two-way communication with/ between internal and external customers. 
  • Providing back-up to Front Office Administrator, i.e. answering phones and greeting customers.


  • A diploma or certificate related to sales and marketing, customer service, business management, and/or communications.
  • Knowledge of collision repair process and/or auto insurance claims processing. 
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Efficient use of Microsoft Office and the Internet. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 


The Parts & Receiving Associate receives deliveries of automotive parts; verifies accuracy and quality; and oversees automotive parts inventory. 

Major areas of responsibility:

  • Ability to review parts sheets and repair orders, in accordance with our standardized production processes.
  • Receiving and unpacking parts (Ability to lift maximum 50 lbs).
  • Allocating parts to appropriate bins.
  • Returning damaged or incorrect parts.
  • Internal dispatching of parts.


  • Experience in automotive parts department and/or shipping/receiving - 6 months preferred. 
  • Ability to maintain good vendor relations.
  • Exceptional organization skills. 


The Parts Technician will be responsible for checking vehicle parts for accuracy and damages, matching the part alongside vehicle being repaired, and allocating parts to the correct bins and/or stalls.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Possess a working knowledge of automotive parts.
  • Thoroughly check parts received for accuracy and damage.
  • Re-order parts if necessary.
  • Allocate parts and part carts to bins and/or stall.
  • File parts invoices and maintain records.


  • Experience in automotive parts department - 6 months + preferred. 
  • Knowledge of automotive parts a MUST.
